Nicolas Kats, ND, Lic. Ac., is a Naturopathic Doctor and a licensed acupuncturist. He earned his ND degree at National College of Natural Medicine, Portland, Oregon, USA, in a 4 year, full-time, accredited ND program. This program begins with 2 years in the basic medical sciences - anatomy, physiology, physical exams, lab-work disease and diagnosis - the same as in medical schools for MDs and general practitioners. Nicolas' training covered therapies such as clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, chiropractic, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and physiotherapy, and included a full year of clinical training. His acupuncture degree was obtained from the College of Integrative Acupuncture, Galway, Ireland, in a 3 year part-time program. He holds a BA in Classics and Religion from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut. His articles, book reviews and courses combine extensive knowledge of both natural and modern medical techniques and research. Nicolas integrates acupuncture, herbal medicine, diet, supplements, homeopathy and hydrotherapy. To understand health problems he uses three paradigms – modern medicine, naturopathy, and traditional Chinese medicine. Most practitioners of alternative medicine have little or no understanding of modern medicine. Most general practitioners have little or no understanding of natural medicine, such as diet, herbs, supplements and acupuncture. The understanding of both gives him the ability to practice sound complementary medicine.
